Internships in arts and culture
Works of art in their social, political, intellectual, and cultural contexts. Interns learn to think, read, and write critically about art and to be astute interpreters of visual culture. The candidates persue experiential learning through internships in museums, art galleries, historic preservations, interior designs, artists-in-residence, archeological sites, architectural firms, etc.
Skills you could acquire
- Rehearsal and production aspects of creating a video or theatre performance.
- Pattern making, cutting, sewing, fitting, design, merchandising in designers boutique, organizing fashion shows (all aspects of a young designer business).
- How to produce special events, how to research Arts & Arts funding, Exhibit curatorial skills, how to design a program, admin. Skills.
- Designing within confines of customer requirements.
- Understanding of all elements necessary to create a successful TV-show.
- Computer program skills, communication & interpersonal skills.
What past interns have done
- Schedule rehearsals, attend production meetings.
- Patternmaking, cut, sew, fit, design, merchandise in designers boutique, organize fashion shows (create a new collection).
- Assist in special events production, research project compiling database of cultural arts organizations & activities, write reports, research Arts funding, assist Exhibit curating, assist in Arts education program management.
- Make presentation boards, make knit downs, do layouts and colour layouts, work with designer.
- Conduct research, assist in production tasks, assist in post production, assist with admin. Task.
- Manage databases to track artwork, facilitate art review meetings with editors.
