Internships in environmental science
These internships will aquaint the intern with the normal operations of a nature preserve and allow interns to participate in on-going research projects in community and ecosystem ecology, conservation biology, animal behavior and evolution.
Interns have the possibility to help to staff of Institutions and companies dedicated to preserve the environment.
Skills you could acquire
- Working with people from diverse backgrounds, and a range of ages in an outdoor setting.
- Good knowledge on biology, ecology, environmental studies, environmental science, forestry, or related field.
- Familiarity with, or desire to learn, local flora and fauna.
- Ability to handle several different projects simultaneously.
What past interns have done
- Help visitors understand and appreciate both the natural and cultural history as well as provide information on the recreational and educational opportunities available.
- Assisting Environmental Education Specialists with teacher orientation workshops, open house events, day camp, field trips and special projects related to forests, wildlife and enviromental issues.
- Photography, photo and specimen collections, transplant seedlings, prune, fertilize and water plants, pull weeds, and plant and nurture new native plants in the field journalism, desktop publishing and conservation of critically endangered species , are some of their tasks done in the past.
