My experience as an intern at Instituto Hemingway
It has been almost one month since I first came to Bilbao, and so far my experience has been great! I came here in the beginning of June, in order to do an internship at Instituto Hemingway, with the Erasmus placement program.
Even though doing an internship is not obligatory for my studies I thought this would be a great oportunity for me as it would give me the chance to grow profecionally and personally and gain new skills and knowledges. With this internship I would also get to learn how an organization or business is run and see how everything works from the ¨inside¨.
My responsibilities are to translate different articles and blogs on the Instituto Hemingway website, assist at the leasure activities that the institute offers to it´s students and also to advertise and promote it to potential students.
My favourite part of the job is when I assist at the leisure activities, as I get to meet students and visit many beautiful places while I´m working! With Instituto Hemingway, I have visited Artxanda, the Guggenheim museum, the playa, the city of Gernika, Puente Colgante, and many more . Also, every Friday night we go at a tavern for traditional pintxos, and this month we will have two fiestas!
I also get to practise my Spanish skills, as I make translations from English to Spanish, and talk with the students in Spanish.
So if you are thinking about doing an internship, I strongly recommend you to do it! So far it has been the best and most useful experience of my life!
