My experience as an intern in Spain
For two months I have been a digital marketing intern at Instituto Hemingway. I made strategies to create more awareness and interest for Instituto Hemingway.
Culture shock?
I am from the Netherlands and so far living in Spain has made a good impression on me. The warmer climate and the exotic language are of course important factors to make me enjoy my time here in Bilbao.
Initially I experienced a culture shock at Instituto Hemingway, as the work culture here is so different from working in the Netherlands. But different in a positive way! It’s more flexible and informal, which I like.
Learning Spanish
Everyone you work with is very nice and the Instituto makes sure that all students and interns are able to experience the Spanish culture by organizing free activities, such as Pintxos evenings, visits to historical places in the Basque country and to museums in Bilbao. This way, we all have the chance to meet international people and that we can try to practice Spanish with each other.
Spanish student
Because of that, during my time as an intern at Instituto Hemingway, I have been able to improve my Spanish skills. However, I want to learn more and that is why I decided to continue my time at Instituto Hemingway for one more month as a student of one of their Spanish courses!
