Internships in tourism and travel
The intern will work on a number of projects, helping with the day to day running of the placement.
Interested individuals would be expected to exhibit patience, dependability, creativity and flexibility. The intern will assist in organizing events, meetings, etc.
Skills you could acquire
- Marketing of areas, advertising strategies for areas, co-operative advertising and marketing, organizational skills, event marketing.
- Travel booking & reservation skills, admin. skills, accounting skills, retail sales skills and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of all aspects of operating a small hotel.
- Service and Quality Standards, management and leadership skills, coaching and counselling skills, organization and problem solving abilities.
- How to organize theme parties, professional behavior skills, knowledge of P.O.S. computer system, communication and interpersonal skills.
What past interns have done
- Attend meeting of tourism sites, be involved in planning process of marketing, assist in updating website.
- Communicate with clients/inquirers, issue ID cards, sell and issue travel passes, assist in creating reports.
- Take room reservations for guests, assist and advise guests, assist in preparing and serving meals.
- Working with all aspects at front desk, room control, concierge, bell and door services, switchboard operations.
- Set up and break down buffets, develop concepts for theme parties.
- Assist in scheduling, lead a shift.
