A 3 month erasmus placement at Instituto Hemingway
My name is Myria and I am a student at the University of Cyprus. I have come to Spain, with two more Cypriot students, in order to complete an internship for three months during the summer.
To be more specific, I wanted to do the Erasmus Placement program, which is a program organized by the European Union that gives students the chance to move abroad and work in an organization for three months. I was searching online for organizations in different countries. Going to Spain was at the top of my list, because I have always wanted to visit Spain and learn Spanish. So when I found Instituto Hemingway, I thought it would be a good chance to do this. Being accepted here was very simple. I sent an e-mail with my personal information and i was accepted! And now, here I am: in Bilbao!
Before I came to Bilbao, I have to say that I didn´t really know what I would be doing at the school. As I said, I just wanted to come here to improve my Spanish and meet new people through work. However, on my first day here they explained to us that we will be doing various tasks such as helping with the marketing via translating articles for the Instituto Hemingway websites and being apart of the activities that are available for the students here.
In general, the people here are very helpfull and friendly. After the first few days here, I can say that this experience will be great. I will have the chance to be responsable in a real working environment, which will help me for my future working plans. I will also have the chance to improve my Spanish, through translating and the everyday contact with the other people at the Institute.
In conclusion, an internship is a plus for everyone’s CV. I am sure that the whole experience here will be unforgettable for me. Bilbao is wonderful and a must seen city. So, if anyone wants to do an internship in a foreign country, I think this is one of the best choices!
