My work experience in Spain
In France, I undertook Management Assistant training. This training gave me a great opportunity: to work abroad for six weeks.
Work experience abroad is not possible for all students. Expressing yourself in different languages can open many doors in the world of work because nowadays it is essential to be able to communicate with clients and colleagues. Doing work experience abroad is not only beneficial professionally, but also on a personal level. It effectively enables us to discover and appreciate other cultures, other ways of life, and other people. For example, here in Bilbao, the food is cheaper, the people are much more welcoming, the city is attractive, mealtimes are different and the weather is hot!
I am working at Instituto Hemingway for my work experience. I translate and proof-read news items in French, write new articles, updating the Schools and Courses website, and I also look for schools and universities in order to establish links and inform them about our programmes.
I am really enjoying the work, as it is helping me to develop new skills and improve my Spanish at the same time.
It is a great experience as I have been made to feel very welcome, despite the gaps in my knowledge of Spanish. In addition, the Institute organises free cultural activities every day, such as museum visits, trips to the theatre, etc. This has been a great way to make the most of my stay here.
